Sail in Fantasy on a Disney Cruise Ship

The Disney cruise ship line is headquartered in celebration, Florida. Owned by the Walt Disney Company, company parks and resorts division president Tom McAlpin invites you to sail in fantasy on a Disney Cruise ship.

Disney cruise ship line has two operational ships namely the Disney Magic and the Disney wonder. They are docked at the side of Castaway Cay, a private island in the Bahamas which is designed exclusively for both Disney’s ships.

On July 30, 1998, the first Disney cruise ship began its operation, The Disney Magic. A year later in August 15, 1999, The Disney Wonder also began its operations. Both of the ships have 875 staterooms which are nearly indistinguishable in their design.

Another goal of both the ships is to accommodate kids and parents, they are the first in their class to be designed and created as true family cruise liners. Unlike traditional cruise ships, they do not include any casinos. Instead there are additional family facilities made specifically for toddlers. This makes the cruise ship even more family oriented.

The cruise ships horns on both the Wonder and the Magic have exclusive an tune which plays the melody of when you wish upon a star.

The Cruise ship Disney Magic was ordered in 1998. It was made by an Italian Shipbuilder Fincantieri. It can handle up to 2,400 guests.

On May 25th 2008, the Disney Magic is scheduled to sail 12 consecutive seven-night cruises from the Port of Los Angeles all the way to the Mexican Riviera ports in cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and then sailing on to Puerto Vallarta.

The Disney Wonder, has an alternate 3 or 4 night cruises. It visits Nassau and a wonderful private island Castaway Cay owned by the Disney company. The mentioned 4 night package offers an additional day at sea only. The Wonder went back to the dry docks in October 2006 to get enhancements that was added to the Magic in 2005.

The Wonder was added with a toddler pool and splash zone. There is also a modern computer simulator that was installed in the Oceaneer Lab which lets kids steer the Disney Wonder in and out of the port. There is also a 24 x 14 ft. screen installed to the forward funnel which overlooks the Goofy pool. It offers Disney movies and television programs. The Disney cruise ship is truly a magical fantasy sailing experience.
